Android 11 Developer Preview in 2020 had a double faucet aspect for Pixel telephones codenamed ‘Columbus’. The aspect was not rolled out with the formal release of the OS. However, a new report by 9to5Google indicates that the function may perhaps come with the Android 12 later this year.
The function is claimed to switch the ‘Active Edge’ squeeze gesture. The double faucet gesture on the rear facet of Pixel phone is reported to provide easy obtain to Google Assistant.
The 9to5Google report claims that the function will be customisable internally for other steps like snooze of an alarm or dismiss a timer. It can also be customised to acquire a screenshot, open the notification shade, handle media playback or open up up the the latest applications menu.
The aspect was initial noticed in the Developer Preview of Android 11. The gesture was then said to be much too sensitive.
